Abstract

Since the 1970s, Philip K. Dick began a literary and personal journey that profoundly transformed his science fiction production. Initially his narrative structure did not differ too much from that of his colleagues but then, in the 1970s, coinciding with a painful hallucinatory experience, Dick began writing a series of novels with autobiographical elements. These texts have an internal structure and a differentiation of characters such as to be able to include them in the variegated cultural phenomenon called postmodern, a term still little used in literature at the time, and also to hypothesize that they may have anticipated a subgenre attributable to that same movement that here is called neuro-postmodern, in the wake of similar existing definitions.
Philip K. Dick, with his Valis tri/quadrilogy anticipated by over twenty years that particular type of narration that is neuro-fiction, putting neuropsychological phenomena in the foreground and structuring the various novels of his latest narrative corpus as were the result of a particular way of using the two cerebral hemispheres.
