Abstract
The essay analyzes the evolution of Dostoevsky’s poetics in his first three works, all published in 1846. Even if they lead the young writer in a creative impasse, the two short novels Poor folk and The double and the tale Mr. Prokharchin are also a first milestone in the definition of characters, literary motifs and linguistic strategies that will shape the whole work of Dostoevsky.
